On 14 November DESY, DESY PT and Fraunhofer ISI held a joint on-site workshop on impact assessment in Hamburg to popularise project’s findings and discuss further options and details of the coming RI-PATHS pilot at DESY. The workshop featured DESY presentations on industrial usage, use and impact of PETRA III, and experiences with non-scientific users. The scope of the discussion was broad, ranging from fundamental policy and strategic issues to more detailed discussions on impact causation, mediators, data sources and suitable indicators. It was found that DESY already documents many relevant aspects in established processes – from which others could learn. Nonetheless, there is room for and interest in complementary activities to which the RI-PATHS pilot at DESY will contribute.
